Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information I collect through cillaspurls.co.uk, why I collect it, how I use it, and the rights you have over it. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I, Cilla Webb, trading as Cilla's Purls, am the "data controller" of the information described below.
What information I collect
Depending on how you interact with my website, I may collect:
-
Contact details — your name and email address, for example when you make a purchase, sign up to my newsletter, join my loyalty programme, or get in touch via my contact page
-
Order information — details of the patterns you've purchased, order history, and your loyalty (Purls) points balance
-
Payment information — payments are processed securely through my website platform, Wix, and its payment providers. I don't see or store your full card details myself
-
Communications — any messages you send me, for example through my contact page or social media
-
Technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, and how you use my site, collected through cookies. See my Cookie Policy for more detail
How I use your information
I use your information to:
-
Process and fulfil your pattern orders, and send you your digital download
-
Manage your loyalty programme account and Purls points
-
Respond to questions or messages you send me
-
Send you my newsletter and updates about new patterns or offers, where you've opted in to receive these — you can unsubscribe at any time
-
Keep records for accounting and tax purposes, as required by law
-
Understand how visitors use my site, so I can improve it
Who I share your information with
I don't sell your personal information to anyone. I share information only where necessary, mainly with:
-
Wix, the platform my website, online store, and loyalty programme run on, who processes data on my behalf to operate the site and take payments
-
Any authorities or professional advisers where I'm legally required to share information, such as for tax purposes
Because Wix operates internationally, some data may be stored or processed outside the UK. Where this happens, Wix has its own safeguards in place to protect your data in line with data protection law.
How long I keep your information
I keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above — for example, order and payment records are usually kept for as long as required for UK tax and accounting purposes. If you unsubscribe from my newsletter or ask me to delete your data, I'll do so unless I'm required to keep it for legal reasons.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
-
Ask me what personal information I hold about you, and get a copy of it
-
Ask me to correct any information that's inaccurate or incomplete
-
Ask me to delete your information, where I'm not required to keep it for legal reasons
-
Object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use your information
-
Withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from marketing emails
-
Ask for your information in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, please contact me using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you have concerns about how I've handled your data.
Children's privacy
My website and patterns aren't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, and rely in large part on the security measures built into the Wix platform. However, no method of transmission or storage online can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the way I collect or use data changes. Any updates will be posted on this page.
