Sometimes you simply need to knit something silly... And these cute little bunny
buddies are exactly that! My boys have gone mad over these little gems and
I’m sure they’ll brighten up anyone’s day. The best part about these, is that they
knit up really quickly and require very little yarn. The perfect stashbusters for
those leftover bits of yarn we are all guilty of keeping... just in case :)
Yarn:
12g Sirdar Snuggly DK yarn per bunny
A small amount of black and pink yarn for the facial features.
Needles:
3.5mm straight needles
Other supplies:
Toy stuffing
Tapestry needle
Size:
11 cm tall
Abbreviations
[ ] x times: Knit the instructions between the brackets x amount of times.
; rep from to end: Repeat the instructions between the * and ; until the end of the row.
st(s): stitch(es)
K: knit, if followed by a number, knit that amount of stitches
P: purl
St st: stocking stitch: alternate a row of knitting and a row of purling.
G st: garter stitch: knit every row
K2tog: knit two stitches together knitwise.
P2tog: purl two stitches together purlwise.
Kfb: knit in the front and back of the stitch, creating an increase.
Pattern instructions:
Body:
Using DK yarn cast on 8 sts.
Row 1: [Kfb] 8 times. 16 sts
Row 2 and all even rows: P.~
Row 3: [K1, kfb] 8 times. 24 sts
Row 5: [K1, kfb, k1] 8 times. 32 sts
Row 7: [K2, kfb, k1] 8 times. 40 sts
Row 8-16: St st 9 rows.
Row 17: [K4, k2tog, k4] 4 times. 36 sts
Row 19: [K3, k2tog, k4] 4 times. 32 sts
Row 21: [K3, k2tog, k3] 4 times. 28 sts
Row 23: [K2, k2tog, k3] 4 times. 24 sts
Row 25: [K2, k2tog, k2] 4 times. 20 sts
Row 27: [K1, k2tog, k2] 4 times. 16 sts
Row 29: [K2tog] 8 times. 8 sts
Break yarn and thread through rem. sts. Pull tight and fasten. Using mattress st sew along the side seam and stuff.
Embroider two small black eyes and a triangular nose as followed:
Ears: make two
Using DK yarn cast on 9 sts.
Row 1-11: Slip 1 stitch purlwise, k to end.
Row 12: Slip 1 st purlwise, k2tog, k to end. 8 sts
Row 13-17 : Repeat row 12. 3 sts
Row 18: Slip 1 stitch purlwise, k2tog. 2 sts
Row 19: Slip 1 stitch purlwise, k1, psso. 1 st
Break yarn and thread through rem. St . Pull tight and fasten. Fold the cast on edge in half, and sew the cast on edge onto the top of the head.
Legs: make two
Using DK yarn cast on 16 sts
Row 1-6: St st 6 rows.
Row 7: [K2tog] 8 times. 8 sts
Break yarn and thread through rem. Sts. Pull tight and fasten. Using mattress st sew along the side seam and secure to the body.
Arms: make two
Using DK yarn cast on 14 sts
Row 1-6: St st 6 rows.
Row 7: [K2tog] 7 times. 7 sts
Break yarn and thread through rem. Sts. Pull tight and fasten. Using mattress st sew along the side seam and secure to the body.
